One of my favorite food finding toys to use for my birds is a birdie skewer! You can do anything with these – well, almost. I always put fresh foods on mine. You can use tons of different foods on a skewer which is why I love them.
Here is a video of what your birds are SUPPOSED to do with one! Featuring my rose breasted cockatoo “Bondi” and Congo African Grey “Cressi”.That skewer had two apples and bread on it. They devoured it within a half hour or so! I didn’t even have time to film them eating it, it was gone so fast! As you can see from the mess below that I had to change soon after! But the birds love it and it’s a great way to introduce new healthy foods. Some foods I use on my skewer in rotation or together:
- Fruits (apples, plums, oranges, and more)
- Potatoes (sweet, red, Idaho)
- Veggies (tomatoes, celery, squash, broccoli, carrots when warm)
- Berries (black berries, strawberries, raspberries)
- Extras (olives, peppers, meat such as chicken, fish, red meat)
